Pragyan Bharati Scheme 2026 (Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award)

The Higher Education Department, Government of Assam is providing free scooters to meritorious students who secured 80% or more marks in the Higher Secondary (HS) Final Examination 2026 conducted by the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), under the Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award of the Pragyan Bharati Scheme.

Important Dates

• Online application starts: 29 July 2026 (2:00 PM)
• Last date to apply: 21 August 2026 (6:00 PM)
• Provisional eligible list: 25 August 2026
• Claims & objections: 25 August 2026 to 30 August 2026
• Final beneficiary list: 10 September 2026

Eligibility Criteria

• Must have secured 80% or more marks in the HS Final Examination 2026 (ASSEB).
• Students in the betterment or reappearance category are not eligible.
• Must be a resident of Assam.
• Students admitted to institutions outside Assam are also eligible if they hold a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) of Assam.

• Motivate students to pursue higher education.
• Provide better mobility and easier access to higher education.
• Enhance the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in Assam.

How to Apply

1. Visit the Directorate of Higher Education, Assam portal.
2. Check the provisional list of students with 80% or above marks published on the portal.
3. Fill in the online application form with your HS roll number, marks, bank and contact details.
4. Upload the required documents and submit before 21 August 2026, 6:00 PM.
